FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. — The Minnesota State Fair closed early Saturday night after a shooting caused hundreds to flee the area in a panic.

Fair officials said just after 10 p.m. someone fired a shot near the area of Carnes Avenue and Liggett Street, which is by the Midway. Later, a victim was found and taken to the hospital. Officials said that person is expected to be OK.

WCCO crew members reported there was a large police presence and crime scene tape being put up in the Midway area.

A representative for the fair said it shut down around 10:20 p.m. due to “disturbances” near the Midway.

“We are in touch with State Fair police and officials and will have more information in the morning,” Gov. Tim Walz tweeted┬áSaturday night. “Law enforcement is investigating this incident and bolstering their presence tomorrow.”
